On August 17, 2025, Vihara Dharma Hastabrata (圓信堂) successfully held the Ullambana Ulkamulkha Yoga Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha Ceremony, led by Acharya Shi Lian Zao (釋蓮照上師) from Australia. The ceremony was conducted in observance of the Ullambana month, the 7th month of the lunar calendar, which in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition is dedicated to honoring ancestors. In Chinese cultural tradition, it is also widely known as Cioko or the Hungry Ghost Festival.

In the spirit of filial piety and compassion during this sacred month, the Lotus Light Charity of Vihara Dharma Hastabrata once again carried out a social welfare program by distributing 300 food packages. Each package contained 5 kilograms of rice, 1 liter of cooking oil, 1 kilogram of sugar, and 5 packs of instant noodles. The beneficiaries were both devotees of the Vihara and local residents in need.

This charitable initiative was made possible through the generous contributions of benefactors and devotees who registered their ancestors during the Ullambana Ulkamulkha Yoga Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha ceremony last August.

The distribution effort was warmly supported by Pandita Lokapalasraya Resinah and Pandita Lokapalasraya Cuncun, along with the enthusiastic participation of the temple youth under the YXT Sunday Service. Together, they worked hand in hand to deliver the food packages to the community under the scorching midday sun, right after the Sunday School service.

This event beautifully reflected the spirit of unity and compassion among devotees, temple management, and youth in performing good deeds through social service.

May the merits of this collective act of kindness bring abundant blessings and benefits to all.
